Welcome to MarniWasserman.com
Congratulations for coming to my website! I am so happy to have you here – take a second and learn why I do what I do and am who I am!
To put it as simply as possible, I love to eat. I love to experience food and all of its nutritious wonders, but more than anything I love to share my delicious knowledge. Whether I am teaching, cooking, consulting, writing, demonstrating or creating – it’s all about food; it’s what I live for. I give people a reason to eat healthy, fresh and delicious foods – that is who I am!
I can honestly say I eat healthy most days of the year. Anyone who knows me knows that my journey into health was a natural and organic progression. Over the course of about 10 years, my eating practice has evolved from a time I thought that low fat yogurt and low calorie snack packs were the epitome of healthy eating, to now where I have embraced plant-based whole foods as my dietary lifestyle. Every year of my food journey cast me deeper into my education and connection with food and my health. My crusades in healthy eating are far from over- there will always be innovation and room for philosophical growth, and I am continuing to embrace and enjoy every new thing I learn along the way from grainy goodness to fibrous fruits. I am honoured to have the chance to share my journey with you, and I hope that you’ll come along for the ride- the destination is your health and well being!
My website and my business is about all things plant-based, but mostly it’s about providing an accessible resource about a plant-based lifestyle. I aim to give well-rounded information on my blog to help people stay on track everyday of the year – as you will see, by everyday I mean most days. This is not a diet plan, detox guide, or anything offered to deprive you of your joy with food, in fact it is the opposite. My hope is that it will help individuals regain confidence and pride, and a direct connection to their food and overall lifestyle when it comes to preparing meals at home or eating on the go. My goal is to show you that this way of life is accessible, simple, and approachable!
I have encouraged, motivated, offered, and shared all kinds of ideas around food to hundreds people, from giving them meal plans, to deconstructing their kitchen cupboards, to teaching cooking classes and writing articles, e-books, and my blog posts. But at the end of the day with the number of people that I encountered, I am brought to the same conclusion: there could be no better way for people to stay true to their habits then to use my website and content as a resource; something practical and useful that they can refer to whenever they need to.
On a personal note, my food journey started when I was 13 years old. I had decided that the vegetarian lifestyle was for me. To look at this a little deeper, I should mention that vegetarianism has always resonated with me as a deep personal interest. My best friend growing up, along with her siblings and family, were vegetarian. This was probably my first exposure to the idea of a plant-based lifestyle, and for some reason it stuck with me- I guess it was destiny! As a vegetarian teenager my staples were eggs and potatoes with ketchup, and a variety of pre-prepared vegetarian foods (veggie nuggets, etc.). As the years went on there was a drive in me to learn more- that initial interest I had in vegetarianism was starting to shape the way I thought about things. Gradually I researched more and more into the best way to consume whole foods and stay healthy. This led to me become a personal trainer, a certified chef, a culinary nutritionist, and eventually influenced me to start my own business which aims to educate people about food and a plant-based lifestyle through cooking classes and personalized nutrition guides. Writing and distributing a published book is the next step of my journey! I hope you enjoy the ride!
